Welcome to this brief overview of Shiga Gakuen’s exciting international Program!

NZ SHORT PROGRAM

Shiga Gakuen offers all second grade junior high students a 2-month opportunity to experience homestay life, culture and schooling in the town of Nelson, New Zealand. Prior to the July-August visit students complete pre-departure training sessions in English communication with the assistance of native English speakers and complete independent presentations and speeches on their return.

STUDY ABLOAD PROGRAM

Shiga Gakuen encourages students from the third grade of junior high school as well as students from the advanced and the general course of a first year high school to study abroad. There are two study abroad options:

ONE TERM PROGRAM
Running from January to April, students take an intensive two week language school preparation course in Aukland to ready them for New Zealand high school.

ONE YEAR PROGRAM
Students participate in a full New Zealand academic year.

Pre-departure orientations targeting communication, cultural awareness and problem solving help motivate and prepare students while monthly reports from students abroad help us support their progress appropriately.

Returning to Shiga Gakuen, study abroad students play an active role in sharing their experiences with the broader school community.
